    Philosophy of Education
I believe that all children are gifts of God; that all children are important; that all children can learn; that parents are partners; that teachers make a difference; that a safe environment is essential; and together we can do almost anything. I believe that children learn best when education is put into real life scenarios and their education is experienced. I believe that children can learn to make good responsible choices and need to be held accountable for the choices they make.

    Philosophy of Education
My mission as a teacher is to create a classroom environment that facilitates learning, operates with trust and respect, and shares the love of Christ with all who enter. In partnership with parents and fellow teachers, I strive to nurture students in developing their God-given gifts and glorifying God in their own individual and unique ways. Students will have opportunities to practice responsibility and independence throughout the school year. To challenge students and promote life-long learning, second graders will be encouraged to take healthy risks without a fear of failure. Finally, it is my hope that students can embrace an attitude that learning, while not always quick and easy, can be fun and exciting!

    Education Background
I have earned two degrees from Northern Arizona University: a BA in Elementary Education with an Emphasis in Sociology and a MA in Early Childhood Education with a Reading Specialist Endorsement. I have been a Reading Specialist (K-4th grade).
    Philosophy of Education
I believe all children are gifts from God. All children have basic needs that must be met if they are to grow and learn to the best of their ability. The curriculum of my classroom will include certain basics that contribute to children’s spiritual, social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development. These basics include: spiritual (learning about Jesus, God, the Bible, and prayer), social (positive peer and adult interaction), emotional (positive experiences in a safe environment and promoting independence), intellectual (providing opportunities for children to explore using centers, manipulatives, and literacy activities), and physical development (movement experiences to enhance fine and gross motor skills – writing, cutting, painting, hopping, skipping, jumping, dancing, etc…).

My husband, Lance, and I have a beautiful daughter named Erin who is here at Atonement. My family and I enjoy traveling, playing board games, going to the Suns and Diamondback games, and spending time with family and friends. Because our classroom will be diverse, I will accommodate my students with the tools they need to succeed. Every child has a right to a good education, which is why I believe that all children deserve the right to learn in an environment that is safe, comfortable and centered around God and His glory. Success is built on the idea that they can do anything if they try, so my goal is to engage the students in activities that allow them to build their confidence and self-esteem. I also believe in encouraging the children to express themselves freely and artistically. I want my students to leave my classroom feeling great about themselves and their accomplishments.

I graduated from Arizona State University West Campus in May 2008 with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education

I believe that each child is a unique gift from God. Each child learns differently so therefor it is my mission to help each child learn in the way that is best for them. I use many different teaching methods from standard teaching methods, games, hands-on, group collaboration and small group teaching. I believe that all children need to know that God has given them many talents. Education is most importantly a partnership with the parents. Finally it is my goal to make their education fun and interactive.
